Printing FAQs

Q: How many printers are there?

A: Two in the Beren Study Center; two in the alcove to the left of the library entrance, for a total of four in Forchheimer. There is also one in Student Housing 1925/1935 in the lobby.

Q: Which computers can I use for printing?

A: All public computers in the library are configured for printing. In addition, you can print from any device that has a web browser by visiting https://printing.einsteinmed.edu/. (No matter where you are when you submit your print job, you still have to release it from the printers listed above.)


Q: How do I log on my account?

A: Einstein students, faculty, and staff: Log on with your AD username. (Note to students: this is the same way you log on to MediaSite and Canvas). Other users may create their own guest account.


Q: How do I release a print job at the printer?

A: Einstein students, postdocs, faculty, and staff can scan their Einstein ID badges at the printer to authenticate and release print jobs.

scan your ID*** The first time you print, you will have to link your PaperCut account to your Einstein ID badge. Scan your badge and click yes to link your badge to your AD account, then log on to the printer with your AD credentials. Once your account has been paired with your ID, you will be able to release print jobs by scanning your ID and selecting the desired print jobs from the queue. ***


Q: Can I choose between black & white and color printouts?

A: Yes, but you must specify your print options BEFORE sending your job to the printer.


Q: Can I print double sided?

A: Yes, but you must specify your print options BEFORE sending your job to the printer.


Q: What size paper is available?

A: Letter size paper 8 ½” x 11” is available.


Q: Can I personalize my own default print preferences?

A: No. If you need specialized print settings, you will have to adjust them each time you prepare to send a job to the printer.

Printing options are:

  • Black & white double sided
  • Black & white single sided
  • Color double sided
  • Color single sidedprinting preferences
 

Q: When using a library or housing printer, do I have to log in to PaperCut each time I want to print something?

A: Not necessarily. When sending your first job from your computer to the printer, you’ll have the option to remain logged in for 1, 5, 15, 30, or 60 minutes, or until you logout.


Q: How long does it take to print?

A: Large documents will take longer to print. If blue lights are flashing, the printer is working.


Q: How quickly does the printer time out?

A: The printer times out after 2 minutes.


Q: How long will a print job stay on the system?

A: Jobs sit in the print queue for 4 hours after they are created.


Q: Who do I contact if I have a problem with my AD username?

A: You will need to contact Montefiore IT at 914.881.4554.
