New Database: Preprint Citation Index from Web of Science

by Winifred King on 2023-05-12T10:32:00-04:00 in Resources & Databases | 0 Comments

We now have a subscription to Preprint Citation Index from Web of Science (Clarivate): A multidisciplinary collection of preprints from leading repositories including arXiv, bioRxiv, chemRxiv, medRxiv and Preprints.org. Web of Science harvests content from the preprint repositories daily. Preprint citations are not included in Times Cited counts, the Journal Impact Factor (JIF) or any other citation metrics within the Web of Science Core Collection or Journal Citation Reports.

Identifying preprints clearly within a Web of Science record and the preprint disclaimer:

Although there is some content overlap between pre-print indexes, there is no one source which indexes them all. Here are a few more preprint repositories:

  • Einstein Preprint Channel in bioRxiv provides a first look at papers by Albert Einstein College of Medicine researchers posted in BioRxiv and MedRxiv.
  • Read by QxMD, a free app for iOS and Android that allows you to browse and read medical journals, is also providing access to preprints. Now included: preprints from the major preprint servers (Research Square, MedRxiv and Biorxiv), congress abstracts from MedscapeLive, all citations on PubMed/Medline, as well as study summaries from 2 Minute Medicine.
