Resource Spotlight: Finding full text fast with browser extensions

Looking to find full text? Here are two browser extensions that can help you get full text fast.

LibKey Nomad++ is a web browser extension designed to streamline access to full-text articles. It is available for Edge, Chrome, Safari, and Firefox and can be downloaded for free from your browser’s web or add-ons store.

When you are browsing publisher pages, the LibKey Nomad++ button will appear when access to full text is available. Clicking on the button will link you directly to the article.

LibKey Nomad++ also inserts inline enhancements to PubMed search results which lets you link to full text directly from any citation in your search results.

If full text is not available from the Einstein Library, LibKey Nomad++ will direct you to ILLiad, our interlibrary loan system where you can submit a request. Library staff will obtain the article for you from another library.

EndNote Click is a free browser plugin supported by Chrome, Edge and Opera that finds the best available PDF of an academic article while you browse. Behind the scenes, EndNote Click will search open databases and Einstein’s subscriptions to find the best version of the paper for you.

Here are a couple of ways to use EndNote Click:

1. Activates automatically

When you do your literature search on PubMed, Web of Science, JSTOR or 20,000 other academic websites, EndNote Click will try to find the full-text PDF version for you.

When you land on a web page with a research paper, (for example, on this open-access article page: https://www.nature.com/articles/s41539-020-0068-7 ) EndNote Click will activate and serve you the PDF.

To access the full-text PDF just click on the EndNote Click button in the bottom left corner of your screen.

2. Integrates with research tools

The Export Reference button in your PDF viewer will download a RIS file which is compatible with reference managers like EndNote, Zotero or Mendeley. You can customise this integration on your account settings page (under the Customise tab).
