Personalized Searching: Home

This guide provides information for setting up and getting the most from personal accounts for PubMed, OvidSP, Web of Science, PsycNET, CAB Direct (Global Health) and Access Medicine

Why use personal accounts?

Many library resources -- such as PubMed, OvidSP, Web of Science, PsycNET, CAB Direct (Global Health), and Access Medicine -- allow you to set up your own personal account. Though the options vary on each system, the benefits of setting up a personal account can include:

  • saving search strategies and setting up alerts so that the search can be rerun at regular intervals and new results emailed to you
  • saving individual records
  • saving images
  • downloading to mobile devices

The purpose of this guide is to:

  • explain the advantages of having a personal account on each of these systems,
  • show you how to set up a personal account on each system, and
  • demonstrate how to use the features that are available with a personal account
