Database Trial: Evidence-Based Health Collection

by Winifred King on 2023-12-12T08:58:00-05:00 | 0 Comments

This month, we have trial access to the Evidence-Based Health Collection database from Ovid. This database includes KSR Evidence, which critically appraises systematic reviews; ECRI Guidelines Trust, a collection of clinical practice guidelines; and Evidence-Based Practice, which focuses on family medicine. We encourage you to check out this new resource and let us know if we should consider adding it to our collection.

KSR Evidence is a database that aims to include all systematic reviews, meta-analyses, and certain health technology assessment (HTA) reports published since 2015. For selected topics HTAs back to 2010 are covered. For many systematic reviews, KSR Evidence provides a critical appraisal and a short bottom line, which gives a summary of the key clinically relevant implications of the results reported in the review and includes information about the reliability of these results.

The ECRI Guidelines Trust (EGT) provides objective, evidence-based clinical practice guideline (CPG) content that has been vetted against a set of inclusion criteria to ensure currency and use of a systematic review of the evidence. The database includes over 2000 CPGs from both nationally and internationally recognized medical organizations and medical specialty societies. EGT continually publishes new and updated CPG content weekly.

Family Physicians Inquiries Network: Evidence-Based Practice is focused on topics relevant to the daily practice of family medicine. It contains content addressing timely and pertinent questions related to patient care. Questions are phrased in a concise, clinically useful format and answers are provided with thorough research of the best available evidence. Evidence-Based Practice is created by primary care clinicians without industry support and its subscribers are part of a rapidly growing international community of physicians dedicated to continuing medical education and the concept of an evidence-based approach to family medicine by translating research into practice.

Nursing Solutions Guideline Summaries was created to replace the guidelines.gov content by nurses reviewing the clinical practice guidelines and writing a summary of the guideline based on what a nurse would need to know. These guidelines are tracked for updates and the summaries are updated quarterly as appropriate.
