Authors Exhibit Now on Display

Stop by the Library lobby to see the new exhibit honoring faculty authors and editors of – and contributors to – books and e-books. This year’s exhibit, which includes works published since March 2017, includes twenty-six books and ebooks. Subjects include clinical medicine, medical research, psychology and travel.

An online exhibit will follow.

Have You Tried F1000Workspace?

F1000Workspace provides an easy and intuitive way to discover, read, annotate, write and share scientific research. It features a web-based application, a browser extension and a plug-in for Microsoft Word.

With F1000Workspace, you can:

  • keep all your references and PDFs online and access them from any computer or tablet. You can easily import references from EndNote, Mendeley, Zotero, Papers or any other reference manager.
  • highlight and add notes to PDFs and web pages. Notes are searchable and accessible wherever you view the article or PDF on the web.
  • see suggested articles and search for related articles while writing your paper.
  • find your references and search multiple databases from within Microsoft Word and Google Docs using the F1000 plug-in for Word or Google Docs.
  • access your references and PDFs from any computer, smartphone or tablet (Android and iOS).
  • collaborate with colleagues and co-authors easily by sharing references and notes in a secure environment. You can also share reference lists and Word documents with editable citations and bibliographies.

Those of you F1000Workspace users on the Mac, be sure to upgrade your Word plugin.

Your Healthiest Self: Wellness Toolkits

The NIH has released Your Healthiest Self: Wellness Toolkits, featuring science-based health tips. Each area has checklists of tips to print for yourself or share with others. The wellness toolkits link to dozens of NIH resources, fact sheets, and articles for more information. Use the NIH’s new wellness toolkits to find ways to improve your wellbeing in any of the following areas:

Surroundings: take steps to make your environments safer and limit your exposure to potentially harmful substances can help keep you healthier.

Feelings: find techniques to handle life’s stresses and adapt to change and difficult times.

Body: learn which physical health habits can help decrease your stress, lower your risk of disease, and increase your energy. 

Relationships: change your physical health habits to help decrease your stress, lower your risk of disease, and increase your energy. 

Disease defense: discover the steps you can take to protect your health and prevent diseases.
