If family and friends are in town, send them to the library lobby, where the Commencement Exhibit 2013 is now on display. This year’s Commencement Speaker was Dr. Philip Ozuah, Professor of Pediatrics at Einstein and EVP and COO at Montefiore. The exhibit honors students, a number of individuals and faculty members with Lifetime Achievement Awards, Distinguished Alumni Awards and Excellence in Teaching Awards.
We extend congratulations to everyone on their graduation, and wish you success in the years ahead.
Stop by the main floor of the library before July 12 to see The Literature of Prescription: Charlotte Perkins Gilman and “The Yellow Wall-Paper.” This traveling exhibition on loan from the National Library of Medicine (NLM) examines the role of gender in the perception and medical treatment of mental illness in the late nineteenth century.

Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders – 5th ed is now available online
The new edition of the comprehensive resource used to diagnose and classify mental disorders. It is the product of more than 10 years of effort by hundreds of international experts in all aspects of mental health.
The disorders included in DSM-5 were reordered into a revised organizational structure meant to stimulate new clinical perspectives. This new structure corresponds with the organizational arrangement of disorders planned for ICD-11 scheduled for release in 2015.
Take a break from your regular morning routine! Join librarians for COFFEE TALK, a new monthly series of brief presentations and discussions on a variety of timely topics. The Library inaugurated COFFEE TALK on June 18, with “What to think about when you’re writing a systematic review?”
The upcoming session, “NIH Public Access Policy: How to Comply” will be held on Tuesday, July 30, from 9-10am in the Library Training Room (Forchheimer 119N). Coffee and bagels will be served. Register online, email the Reference Department or phone 718.430.3104 for further information.
To help with compliance, the library has also created a tutorial. It offers guidance on ensuring that your manuscripts are available to the public within the guidelines of the policy, and that your grant funding continues without interruption. More information is available in the Library’s NIH Public Access Policy guide.
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), approximately one in fifty Latinos will be diagnosed with HIV in their lifetimes. 
To help reach those at risk, the National Library of Medicine (NLM) has introduced a free Spanish-language online resource, infoSIDA, for HIV/AIDS, with information on treatment, prevention and research findings. infoSIDA includes guidelines, and information on clinical trials and drugs, education materials and mobile resources.
