In addition to the wall-mount phone charging station installed in the Reading Room. We now have a charging locker unit located in the Beren Study. The unit has 8 bays of charging lockers, numbered from 1-8 and identifiable by their unique colors. Each locker bay has a variety of charging connectors (Apple Lightning, Apple 30-Pin, Micro USB, USB Type-C). The two bottom lockers also have electrical outlets. Instructions are posted.
The library has acquired a year’s paid trial to BMJ Best Practice. The trial is from July 1st, 2016 to June 30th , 2017.
BMJ Best Practice is a point-of-care tool that provides fast and easy access to reliable, up-to-date information for health professionals making diagnosis and treatment decisions. It provides the latest research evidence, guidelines and expert opinion, covering prevention, diagnosis, treatment and prognosis. Best Practice provides a second opinion in an instant, without the need for moving between multiple resources. Best Practice is produced by the BMJ Evidence Centre.

A Best Practice mobile app is currently available for Apple devices (iPhone, iPad, iPod). To use the app, first register using the link on the top of the right hand side bar on the Best Practice site. Then download the BMJ Best Practice App from the App Store, and sign in using your log-in information.

West Nile virus has been detected in positive mosquito pools collected from the Prince’s Bay and Rossville areas of Staten Island. No human cases have been reported in NYC so far this year. You can monitor whether the virus is present in your part of the city .

Starting on September 30 , when you visit NCBI pages, you’ll see a green lock and https:// in the address bar instead of http://. This lets you know that you are really on an NCBI page – that the NCBI server identity is confirmed – and that your communication with the NCBI server is encrypted and private.
You will see the changes mentioned above, but you don’t have to update or change anything. You don’t need to clear your cache or update any links to NCBI pages that you’ve put on your own webpages or shared with people. You will be automatically redirect to all NCBI pages to https://.
