Highlights from 2016

Library servers were migrated to the Montefiore computer network with bumps along the way. Unexpected technical difficulties proved challenging for library staff and our stalwart library users. Montefiore/Einstein Migration, Network and Research Computing team members helped resolve a number of these issues as they occurred and are continuing to work with us to resolve residual infelicities. Your patience and understanding during this transition are much appreciated.
Library’s 3D printer is in constant use to print scientific, medical, educational and casual/fun models. A librarian worked with a student to design and print a model that was used in a surgical procedure.
Librarians actively participate in systematic reviews, conducting literature searches and assisting with the publication process with authorship credit.
Librarians work with researchers and administrators to ensure that their publications are in compliance with the NIH Public Access Policy.
A technology award from the New York Metropolitan Library Council (METRO) funded the purchase of a phone/device Charging Station and Locker.
To comply with LCME 6.3 Self Directed and Lifelong Learning Standard, librarians created modules and tutorials for first and second-year medical students. Sessions for MSI focus on developing fundamental search skills and MSII focus on performing searches for evidence-based literature. Sessions were conducted in a flipped classroom. Librarians developed interactive, multi-media web-based tutorials with embedded quizzes to test and evaluate knowledge acquired by the students. This was followed by live in-classroom small-group sessions for students to demonstrate new knowledge and skills with feedback from peers and facilitators.
Librarians conducted webinars for popular classes such as EndNote, NIH Public Access Compliance as well as on demand for specific resources at a time convenient for the particular group/individual requesting it.
