RefWorks

RefWorks is a web-based bibliographic management program.

PubMed

In PubMed

  1. Run PubMed search as usual and select citations to save.
  2. Click Send To.
  3. Select Citation Manager.
  4. Format = MEDLINE
  5. Confirm Selection.
  6. Save the file. The file name will look like this: pubmed-samplesearch-set.nbib.

In RefWorks

  1. Click the + button to add references.
  2. Select Import References.
  3. Select the file you
  4. Locate the file you saved on your computer (most likely in you Downloads folder).
  5. Click Import.
  6. Go to Last Imported to add your reference to a folder in your RefWorks library.

Ovid Medline & PsycInfo - Direct Export

In Ovid (Medline and PsycInfo) 

  1. Run search as usual and select citations to save.
  2. Click Export:
    • Export to = RefWorks
    • Select Fields to Display = Complete Reference.
    • Click Export Citation(s).
    • Make sure your browser allow pop-ups from ovid.com.

In RefWorks

  1. Log on to RefWorks.
  2. Import Filter/Data Source = Ovid
  3. View new references in Last Imported Folder.

Web of Science

In Web of Science

  1. Run search as usual and select citations to save
  2. Add slected citations to Marked List
  3. Go to Marked List
    • Step 1: Select Fields to include.
    • Step 2: Select Plain Text from the Other Reference Software dropdown list.
    • Click Save to File. Save file, savedrecs.txt to your Desktop.
    • Make sure your web browser is set to allow downloads from isiknowledge.com

In RefWorks

  1. Go to References > Import.
  2. Impot Filter/Data Source = Thomson Reuters
  3. Database = Web of Science
  4. Browse to select savedrecs.txt from Desktop.
  5. Click Import.
  6. View new references in Last Imported Folder.

Google Scholar via EZproxy

Use this Google Scholar link when searching from off campus or when exporting to RefWorks.
